Such a powerful word.

It’s something we all want but find hard to find. Hard to dig up. From within.

If there is one thing that’s keeping us from achieving the results that we’re after, it’s lack of motivation. We may be in possession of the best training and dieting methods, but if we don’t have the motivation to take action, there is simply no hope.

So how do you get motivated?

Some people are very visual – they respond best to when they see something. Others are more auditory – they respond best when they hear something that puts them in the right state of mind.

Regardless of which one pertains to you, you’ll find that videos are a great mix of visual and auditory ques that have the power to put you in a state of action.

I’m also a fan of motivational videos. As you may know, the movie Never Back Down was what inspired me to get into great shape. I think it’s important to revisit whatever it is that inspires you periodically to help reinforce your motivation.

Never Back Down was an amazing movie, as we’ve mentioned before. Those guys were in incredible shape and definitely inspire you to achieve the same.

#4 How Bad Do You Want It? – That video right there is amazing and will light a fire in anyone. I have been watching it once a week for the past month. Really inspirational.

A couple of videos I would recommend are the following:

212 Degrees- The Extra Degree: my brother introduced me to it. There’s also a short book but the video will motivate anyone to give that extra degree of effort. One degree is the difference between having a breakthrough and having success or simply falling flat.

Any Given Sunday (Al Pacino’s Motivational Speech)- basically life is a game of inches. One play at a time, one extra step taken, one more push. This is how champions are made.

I think everyone’s been jumping on video #4 – it seems to get to people in a positive way.

I almost included Al Pacino’s speech to the list but I figured everyone’s already seen it because it’s so good. I’m looking forward to checking out 212 Degrees. Is it a short video or a movie?

Dave - Not Your Average Fitness Tips - November 19, 2011

Nice set of videos. If we’re just talking about exercise motivation, nothing gets me going like the Rocky IV training montage.

That’s a classic! There’s nothing like raw, hardcore training in the snow 🙂

Tim @ Behind The Workout - November 24, 2011

Glad that I watched this before I worked out! Great post Srdjan. Watching pro bodybuilders train also gets me hyped up (Ronnie Coleman anyone?)

    Srdjan Popovic - November 25, 2011

Thanks Tim! I watched a lot of training montages as well (bodybuilders, strongmen, athletes, and even actors) and found that when I watch athletes train I get really revved up for the gym.

Those were some great videos, as if I didn’t have enough motivation, I am pumped right now even with a sly hangover from New Years Eve. How was new year, Srdjan? All the best with your blogging in 2012

    Srdjan Popovic - January 3, 2012

Hahaha I think we were all a little hung over after New Years Eve. I had a great times with friends, but nothing crazy. I hope yours was a blast.
