Hey, I’m Srdjan (I know, where are the vowels, right?), but you can call me Serge. I’m a 24 year old fitness bloomer from Southern Ontario and I’m on a life-long quest to build myself a better body.
I wasn’t passed along the greatest set of genes and I haven’t had the greatest luck when it comes to injuries. I don’t have a perfect body and I’m sure I never will. What I do have is a deep-rooted love and passion for the human body and all of its intricate components that, when functioning properly, allow us to do all the things we love to do.
My Story
I was always an active kid.
I played basketball for over a dozen years. I boxed competitively. I spent time training Muay Thai in Thailand. I trained hard for Triathlons. I mastered the kettlebell. I was on a role. I was a gym rat - an addict.
But a herniated disc in my back quickly put an end to all of that. My days of competition were replaced with days of excruciating pain. I went from sparring with Muay Thai champions to struggling to sit in a chair.
My life had turned upside down.
It’s very difficult to comprehend just how different life had become. The little things that I once took for granted were suddenly the most difficult to get through.
A lot of people don’t believe me when I say this, but, in a way, my injury was a blessing in disguise.
It made me realize just how badly I’ve been treating my body. Although I was constantly training and looking to improve in the sports and activities I was participating in, I’ve never taken a second to think about what I’ve been putting my body through. I was creating imbalances and inefficiencies in my body. My biomechanical patterns were all messed up and my soft tissues were completely destroyed. The worst part of it all was that I had absolutely no idea it was happening.
It made me realize just how important it is to build a body that was built to last. Our time here is incredibly short and precious that it’s imperative that we spend it doing the things we love. But this is only possible if our bodies allow it.
I was in need of a change.
So why Bloom to Fit?
With this blog, I want to be as transparent as possible with everything I do as I build myself a better body. My training, my nutritioning, my experiments – it will all be here on display for you to see and learn from.
The purpose of Bloom to Fit is to inspire a new generation of fitness bloomers – individuals who choose to build a better body so they can do incredible things with their lives.
Individuals just like you.
Keep in mind that I am not a fitness expert by any means. I’m no guru. I do, however, have something of value to give – experience, passion and incredible drive to build something better. I’ve been there. I’ve been down in the trenches trying and testing different forms of training. I’ve tried and analyzed numerous diets. I’ve tested numerous supplements. I’ve bought everything under the sun for soft tissue work. I know what works and what doesn’t work. And yes, I’ve also been certified as a personal trainer. But, most importantly, fitness is my passion. The human body is my passion. This is what I love and it is because of this deep-rooted passion that I’m always reading about new studies, flipping through anatomy books, testing new superfoods, asking experts lots of questions, and constantly learning about the wonders of the human body.
I’m always full of energy, always looking to learn, and never afraid of trying new things. I’m curious as hell - not always a good thing - and I live to experiment. I will share everything I learn on my blog to help you guys succeed.

Tell us about your vacation man. Btw you are in great shape – I bet you had a blast in Thailand.
Thanks for the compliments, Yavor!
Thailand was amazing to say the least. I went for 6 weeks. Half of the time I trained Muay Thai at a local Thai camp (6 days a week, 7 hours a day). It was the most intense training I’ve ever done but the results were incredible. Just to give you an idea of the workout, we started the day (6am) with a 10km run for a warm-up.
The second half of the trip I spent visiting all the different islands (one of them being Koh Phi Phi as pictured). I’ve never in my life seen beaches so beautiful.
I look forward to the day I can go back, train and swim in the beautiful waters!
